Reflection

After reading and responding to the book, what do you think? What did you think about blogging as a form of response to a book study? Would you be interested in this kind of learning community opportunity in the future?

Reflection
I liked the way the book differentiated Procedures and Principles. Classroom procedures need to be developed by the students so that they feel it is just and doable. It is important for them and us to realize that these are developed so that students know what to expect especially in an emergency situation. But they also need to realize that each of them is different and what works for one, may not work for another. It is our job to identify and help them. I think it is important to keep procedures and principles clear in our minds.

I think this form of response to a book is interesting and gives us the opportunity to respond at our own time as well as time to reflect on others responses. It doesn’t replace the face to face books study, but it is definitely another very good venue for doing book studies

Although I am not good about expressing myself well through blogging, I am willing to use it as a form of sharing and learning. The more I blog, the more I think I will be comfortable in sharing ideas and true feelings.

With this book in particular, it was a very easy read and easy to digest. I like the way we are all embarking on something new and we are all looking forward to more success stories to post!

I enjoyed reading the book as it was interesting to read about how the families have changed, as well as their views on education. This is not the type of book that you finish reading and you are done. In fact, this is just the beginning. It opened the door to a whole new way of thinking.

Responding on a blog was nice because everyone is so busy; however, I can't help but think that face to face interaction would be much more profitable. You would have the back and forth conversations instead of a huge time lapse between posts.

I think it was the first successful book blog I've done with WWE. I like to participate in the GT book blogs given by SBISD, so this was great to have it offered as well. Thanks, Kaycie, for taking it on!!!

I thought the book was interesting and an easy read. I have found myself trying out some of these things but I am still working on being consistent and automatic with using L&L. Hopefully by next year it will be more automatic for me.
I liked doing the book study by blogging. I agree that I liked reflecting on what others responded but I also agree that a face to face would give that immediate back and forth conversation. Maybe we could meet once a month to have a face to face where we share with each other what is working for us and what we are having difficulty with.
